April 18th

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Sunday, April 18th was a great day of services here at West Island.

In the morning there was pretty much a full house and a great spirit of worship and praise. Following the service we had an unexpected baptism – Andre decided it was time to follow the command of Scripture and be baptized – not that evening but immediately. So into the cold water he went – what a great decision. Congratulations Andre!

The service at night had a good crowd and again a great atmosphere. The prayer time at the end was outstanding!

Don’t forget that next Sunday morning is Kids Konnection service – the children will be in the sanctuary for a special children’s service.

Prayer Revival

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Tonight is the last night of our quarterly Prayer Revival and I am looking forward to what God is going to do.

While the numbers have not been what I would have liked (I’d like to have everybody there) there has been, particularly in the focused prayer times, a wonderful manifestation of God’s presence.

In particular this week we are focusing our prayers on the upcoming weekend services – Good Friday and Easter.

On Good Friday the 7:30 PM service will have Communion, the choir will be singing and we will be topping the evening off with a baptismal service. It’s going to be great!!

Easter Sunday we are meeting at Lindsay Place High School’s theater at 10:30 AM – 360 seats gives us lots of room for guests – and most of all, we are praying for God to transform lives with the power of the resurrection.

God is good…..and this weekend is going to be great!!

fireproof Tomorrow night we are going to be showing “Fireproof” – a movie about relationships that comes highly recommended. Following the movie there will be refreshments served downstairs at the church.

It all starts at 7:00 PM at the church. If you didn’t sign up you are still welcome to come and be a part of a great pre-Valentines evening!

New Years Eve Service

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

new-year1 Looking forward to our annual New Years Eve service – traditionally known as the “Watchnight” service.

This year we are starting at 8 PM with worship, communion, thanksgiving and the Word. Following the service there will be a  potluck fellowship as we welcome the new year together in the fellowship of believers.

It’s going to be great! Plan to be a part of our last worship opportunity of 2009.

Updated Audio Page

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

The Sermon Audio page on our website has now been updated with recent sermons preached here at West Island.

I’ve made a few changes to the layout of our Audio section. Audio from the morning services remains on the main “Audio Sermon” page. Audio from Sunday evening, Wednesday evening and District Conference now have their own pages.

Be sure to check out our most recent (currently in progress) Wednesday In The Word series - “The Works Of The Holy Ghost” – which explores the different facets of the work of the Spirit in the lives of believers and non-believers alike.

You can visit the audio page by clicking here.

International Sunday Success

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

This past Sunday, October 18th was our Fourth Annual International Sunday, a time of recognition for the 22 nations that make up West Island United Pentecostal Church. For the first time we took the service out of the church building and into the 360 seat theatre at Lindsay Place High School.

Starting at 7:00 in the morning there were teams of volunteers setting up at the hall for the dinner and beginning the transport of equipment from the church to the school. Many of these same volunteers were involved in the cleanup as well, finishing at approximately 5:30 PM. Thanks to all of our volunteers who worked so hard to make the day a success!

We were pleased to have Mr.. Francis Scarpaleggia, the Member of Parliament for Lac St. Louis, present as our special guest. Mr. Scarpaleggia brought remarks about the power of love and faith to make a difference.

As always the choir and signing team were great, adding so much to the service.

On top of that we broke our Sunday School attendance record with 195 in attendance at the church service and approximately 225 for the service and dinner combined. Thanks to everyone who invited a friend!
