Again this year we are promoting a program to read the Bible through in a year. While we are using the B.R.E.A.D. (Bible Reading Enriches Any Day) charts published by the Pentecostal Publishing House we are using the theme “Face In The Book” with a logo modified from facebook. The challenge……to make this a year when we truly get our “face in the book”.
An online copy of the Bible reading chart is available here complete with links to read the Bible online.

For reasons that include all that we can learn from this report, and for many more that we know from the Scriptures and Christian wisdom, Christians know that the marginalization of marriage can only lead to unhappiness, unhealthiness, and the unraveling of human relationships.

If you were determined to consign a population to poverty and any number of social pathologies, how might you do it? If your design is to extend the effects of these pathologies and pains to successive generations, what might be your plan? The answer to both of these questions is clear. Just marginalize marriage.
Economists report that the wealth deficit of the unmarried as compared to the consistently married is as much as 75 percent. The unmarried are less healthy, less wealthy, and less stable in relationships as compared to married couples. And, to no one’s surprise, the ill effects of this condition are extended immediately to the children of unmarried unions and to generations to come….

We had a great Youth Rally last Friday here at West Island. The building was comfortably full, the worship team and musicians did a wonderful job and Bro. Knox hit the ball out of the park bringing the Word.
Thanks to Brent Isaac for coordinating the rally, Charlotte Thomson, Natasha Price, Rebecca Price and Melissa Groulx for singing (and playing) and everyone who came.

Just received this today -a great report!
Join us in praising the Lord for all His great miracles. We had a wonderful service this morning and the presence of the Lord was there. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. Iqaluit needs liberty!!
Thank you all so very much for the prayerful support. We continue to trust the Lord to finish the work He has begun.
God bless each of you.

This week the BREAD program has us reading the book of Proverbs. This year I’ve been doing my reading in the New Living Translation which caused some of the Proverbs to almost jump off of the page at me.
Some of them:
Prov 19:2-3
2 Zeal without knowledge is not good; a person who moves too quickly may go the wrong way.
3 People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the LORD.
Prov 19:11
11 People with good sense restrain their anger; they earn esteem by overlooking wrongs.
Prov 19:17
17 If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD — and he will repay you!
Prov 19:19-21
19 Short-tempered people must pay their own penalty. If you rescue them once, you will have to do it again.
20 Get all the advice and instruction you can, and be wise the rest of your life.
21 You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.
Prov 20:1
20:1 Wine produces mockers; liquor leads to brawls. Whoever is led astray by drink cannot be wise.
Prov 20:3
3 Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling.
Prov 20:15-16
15 Wise speech is rarer and more valuable than gold and rubies.
16 Be sure to get collateral from anyone who guarantees the debt of a stranger. Get a deposit if someone guarantees the debt of a foreigner.
Prov 21:23
23 If you keep your mouth shut, you will stay out of trouble.

This past weekend was our annual Kid’s Konnection weekend with our special guests “Major Mike” and “Lieutenant Laura”.
There was no shortage of enthusiasm and excitement each night as we sang and worshipped, gave away prizes, heard from the Word and had great food and fellowship. This year we had 54 children registered as part of Kid’s Konnection.
Special thanks to Charlotte Thomson and her team who worked so hard to make the weekend a success. Special thanks also to Sonya Walsh and all those who brought food, helped with setup and cleanup, and our barbecue team for helping make the barbecue a success. Even though we got rained on it was a great time.
Pictures from Saturday evening and Sunday morning are available on our website at the following link Kids Konnection 2010 Pictures. Pictures from Friday evening will be posted later in the week.
